Dr. Marcie Reuer and Dr. Joe Hicks had the pleasure of taking our rural practicum students to Glasgow, Frazer, Nashua and Hinsdale.  The students did an incredible job in the schools.  While we were in Glasgow, Dr. Joe Hicks and two of our students were interviewed by KLTZ (“kilts” as an homage to the town’s namesake).  Elizabeth Hickey and Pace Becker did an incredible job, and we could not be more proud of how they represented MSU and the profession of teaching as a wholeListen Here:The student stories are in the second half of the recording and are worth a listen.

Ed department works to address teacher shortage
December 3, 2024
MSU will soon begin offering a special education teaching certificate as part of its efforts to address a statewide teacher shortage.
Students gain experience teaching in rural schools
November 25, 2024
The Rural Teaching Exploration provides MSU students who are studying to become teachers a formal classroom experience during their first semester while helping them become familiar with the county’s rural schools.
MSU hosts Future Rural Educators' Summer Camp
June 27, 2024
The camp for high school students and recent graduates is part of MSU’s ongoing efforts to address a shortage of schoolteachers in Montana, particularly in rural areas.
