The MentorMT program addresses Montana’s critical rural teacher shortage by providingFREE    expert mentoring for newly prepared teachers as well as those who lack preparation and/or a teaching license.

MentorMT offers grade-level and subject-area mentoring to build skills for educators with limited content knowledge and/or teacher preparation in the area where they are currently assigned. We recruit and train experienced Montana teachers to provide one-on-one mentoring, instructional guidance, and curricular support. Each mentor-mentee pair is individually matched by subject, grade, location, and other factors.

Mentoring takes place through one-to-one partnership, virtual communities, and in-person events. Our mentors offer practical assistance, high-quality resources, and exemplars to support effective teaching. Both partners access OPI’s Teacher Learning Hub to join monthlynetworking discussions and collaborate on “Partners in Practice” instructional activities.

  • Teachers outside their licensure grade level or subject area
