2023 Hispanic Heritage Month
A Moderated Conversation with Author & Poet Javier Zamora
September 19th, 7:00pm; doors open at 6:00pm
Strand Union Building Ballrooms
Bestselling author Javier Zamora will share the story of his nine-week journey from El Salvador to the United States to kick off MSU's 2nd annual observation of Hispanic Heritage Month. In his memoir, “Solito,” Javier Zamora describes in vivid detail the intracontinental journey he took to reunite with his parents. He made the arduous months-long trip, with help from strangers, as a 9-year-old. In this moderated conversation, Zamora will address themes from “Solito,” including immigration, mental health, border crossing, community, family, culture and language.
Copies of “Solito” will be available to purchase before the event, and Zamora will sign books following his talk.
