Want to see your photo published?

The Ecology Department is looking for photographs to feature in departmental marketing materials. We want to showcase the research and researchers that call our department home and the ecosystems and critters that have built our careers.

We would love to have those images come from the students, faculty, and researchers already in the MSU Community!

Winning photographs will have opportunity to be exhibited during the Ecology Department's World Nature Day Celebration on November 2nd and published in future department materials. The top photograph in each category will also receive a prize.

All published and exhibited photographers will receive acknowledgement and publication credit for their work.

Eligibility

All photographers must be a student, staff, or faculty member at Montana State University.

Preference will be given to photographs that feature landscapes, organisms, or research affiliated with the Ecology Department.

Categories

Please note: all photographs must follow animal care and use protocol to be published or exhibited in the Ecology Department.

Landscape

We want to see the ecosystems that keep you excited about conservation! Give us the sweeping views of Yellowstone, the geothermal regions of Iceland, and the ice of Antarctica! We know that our students and faculty travel far and wide to work in some of the Earth's most stunning locations. We want to showcase these landscapes that our department is so passionate about.

Science in Action

We know that science requires dedicated researchers, technicians, and citizen scientists to spend long hours in the lab or field. We would love to go behind-the-scenes with you! Show us your colleagues bent over a microscope or your field technicians collecting samples on a backcountry river. We want to showcase the every day work of the scientists, technicians, and interns who help support our department's research goals.

Critters

We don't know anyone who loves critters as much as the Ecology Department community! Give us your best photographs of mammals, fish, bugs, or other critters that keep you dedicated to your environmental work. We want to be awed by the organisms that are foundational to our department's work.
