Are you interested in learning how to be an effective mentor to American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) students? The Indigenous Mentoring Program (IMP) was developed through the NSF-funded PNW-COSMOS initiative by researchers at Montana State University, University of Montana, and Salish Kootenai College. The purpose of the program is to train and support faculty and other mentors on the topics of student mentoring, resources, socialization, cultural humility, and culturally attuned practices for research conducted by AI/AN students. This session will include an experiential learning activity (please bring a folding chair) followed by a classroom session.

Montana State University Extension and the Office of Research Development invite you to a new event focused on engaged scholarship. The event will serve as an opportunity to share examples of the research and engagement work of MSU Faculty and MSU Extension Faculty, learn more about what peers are doing to address needs across Montana, and connect with new interdisciplinary partners around common interests. The gathering features a research and engagement fair showcasing projects and programs meeting local needs, 5-minute Ignite talks, and opportunities to meet new partners over appetizers and beverages.

This webinar discusses the importance of audience engagement for public presentations and provides strategies for capturing and keeping the attention of an audience in various contexts. The presenter will provide recommendations for how to study an audience prior to a presentation, as well as suggestions for verbal and nonverbal communication strategies that engage an audience the entire presentation.
