MSU Hilleman Scholars Office Expansion: 1106 S. 6th Avenue
Description of Request
Submitted By: Dr. Carina Beck
The MSU Hilleman Scholars Program has identified an immediate and long-term need for additional space following the recent organizational realignment between units within the Divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Success. As part of this transition, Dr. Beck relocated from the Strand Union Building to American Indian Hall room 163/163A. With the addition of new full-time Associate Director, part-time staff and student staff, the current location no longer provides sufficient office space or adequate areas for students, tutors, mentors, investors, and other program participants to collaborate and engage.
To meet immediate operational needs in advance of the upcoming academic year, the program requests temporary occupancy of 1102 South 6th Avenue to accommodate new staff, student associates, and student gathering space, while the Director remains in American Indian Hall. A long-term space solution is being considered in another location but is contingent on other moves which will require review and approval by the SMC. Future allocations and moves will take an extended period and not align with serving campus during the fall semester. The future permanent move will be brought to the committee in alignment with those other moves if viable. Staff will also continue to look for other permanent location options during that time.
Resolution
Date: July 7, 2026
