H. Scott Halliday

Director Center for Advanced Manufacturing

Navajo Technical University

Scott Halliday

H. Scott Halliday

has worked at Navajo Technical University (NTU) for 21 years building capacity to provide equitable educational and research opportunities for not only NTU and other Tribal Colleges but also main stream Universities across the United States. Mr. Halliday’s efforts have resulted in an ever-expanding cutting edge, ultra-modern, Advanced Manufacturing (AM) research facility providing NTU and partners access to research equipment to achieve breakthrough high level metal AM research. Mr. Halliday developed a unique opportunity at NTU to holistically train students first as technicians in the metal AM ecosystem: Pre-Processing, Processing, Post-Processing and Validation. As part of their training, students participate on the latest, prominent research to inspire students to continue their education following a Technician-to-Engineer-to-Scientist pathway. This provides students the ability to gain confidence and reach plateaus from where they can reflect on where they have been and where the path forward can lead them.
