5:00-5:30 PM — Welcome & Check In - Gather at the welcome station for check in, name tags, QR codes, and directions. Gated area of the Preserve opens to public access @ 5 PM.

----- Walk to the Kingfisher Pavilion to visit displays and enjoy snacks. All activities will be at or near the Pavilion unless otherwise noted. Explore the Preserve on your own until 5:40 -----

5:40–5:45 — Welcome to the Preserve - Introduction to Indreland Audubon Wetland Preserve

5:45–5:55 — Citizen Science & SMART FIRES - Introduction to Citizen Science and the SMART FIRES project. Sign up for the Montana Citizen Science Network newsletter and enter to win a PurpleAir air quality monitor.

5:55–6:05 — Citizen Science at the Preserve - Frank and Steve highlight citizen science opportunities at Indreland, including Chronolog and Bioblitz projects. Quick app introductions: eBird, and iNaturalist.

6:05–6:30 — Kids’ Activity Station - Guided hands on activities for young participants (led by MSU).

6:05–7:00 — Explore & Participate - Choose 1-3 activities

  • Join eBird demo by Ben Goodheart, bird expert & MSU Postdoctoral Researcher
  • Join iNaturalist demo by Matt Lavin, MSU Professor Emeritus, Plant Sciences
  • Interact with air quality & fire weather sensors at SMART FIRES station
  • Try out the Preserve’s Chronolog photo monitoring stations
  • Explore the Preserve on your own
