Common Voices
Share Your Story: No Experience Necessary
A production of original monologues written and performed by MSU Students!
What is Common Voices?
Common Voices is a production featuring the real stories of students at MSU. It is a semester-long program where all MSU students (undergraduate and graduate) can learn to develop their voice in a series of weekly workshops beginning mid-February, culminating into a public performance on April 17th.
Why Monologues?
- Storytelling is how we make sense of the hard things.
- It's how we bridge the gap between isolation and belonging.
- Monologues give space for one voice at a time, allowing honesty, complexity, and presence.
Our Mission
Common Voices is aligned with the Student Commons' mission to belonging and access, providing space for reflection, creative expression, and shared listening. This is a signature program that reinforces our space as a place of meaning-making.
Our Goal
- Fostered belonging through shared story: using storytelling as a bridge across differences rather than a site of debate or persuasion.
- Support students in developing confidence, authorship, and presence.
- Create structured opportunities for students to articulate and perform their own narratives.
