About Shooting Sports Events
Montana 4-H Shooting Sports events provide 4-H Shooting Sports members with opportunities to participate in fun and educational competitive matches in archery, air rifle, air pistol, and small bore rifle. The State Shoot is open to all 4-H members enrolled in these disciplines, and is also the qualifying event for teens (14+) hoping to compete at the National 4-H Tournament in air rifle, air pistol, or small bore. Archery and other disciplines have separate qualifying matches.

Eligibility
- Youth must must be
- At least 9 years old* by Oct 1st of the current 4-H year
*Youth can participate in the BB gun safety project. Members must be 8 years old on October 1st of the current 4-H year. Some counties/reservations with advanced projects may have further age guidelines.

Shooting Sports Leader
A shooting sports leader acts as the supervisor for any shooting sports program. Any volunteers interested in becoming a shooting sports leader first must first complete the four National 4-H Shooting Sports modules to become certified.
