4-H Congress
4-H Congress is a week-long event at the Montana State University campus to grow youths
into stronger leaders. They can make connections with other kids in their state, attend
workshops and compete in contests.
Pre Congress
Pre Congress starts two days before 4-H Congress and focuses on making the general
4-H Congress successful. This event is for youth already in a Congress committee role.
Recreation Lab
This event is a 4-H member favorite: It provides an opportunity for youth and adults
to enhance their leadership, communication, and team building skills in an action-packed
and interactive setting.
Citizenship Seminar
Montana Citizenship Seminar is designed to inspire 4-H youth as they learn about the
rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
Montana 4-H Day
Montana 4-H day provides an opportunity to educate Montana legislators about the work
and success of 4-H in the state.
State Contests
State contests are designed to provide educational and state level competitive events
to Montana 4-H'ers.Most state contests take place and are recognized at Montana 4-H
Congress each year.
Fall Leadership Training
Fall Leadership Training is the annual leadership development retreat for Montana
4-H Ambassadors and teen leaders.
Leadership Academy
In April, 4‑H’ers across the nation will participate as True Leaders in Service in
multiple community service projects during National Volunteer Week.
Statewide Project Events
Horse and Livestock forum
The Montana 4-H Horse and Livestock Forum is an opportunity for 4-H leaders and teens
to further their skills in working with youth in the Horse and Livestock Projects.
Workshops and demonstrations are offered throughout the event and time is allowed
to share ideas from county to county.
State Horse Show
The Montana 4-H State Horse Show is a chance for 4-H horse project members to showcase
their skills alongside peers from across the state in a fun and educational competition.
Shooting Sports Events
Montana 4-H Shooting Sports events provide 4-H Shooting Sports members with opportunities
to participate in fun and educational competitive matches in archery, air rifle, air
pistol, and small bore rifle.
Volunteer Events
Montana Volunteer Institute
This statewide event welcomes all Montana 4-H volunteers—whether you’re brand-new
or have years of experience.
Shooting Sports Trainings
Shooting Sports is the 4th largest 4-H project in Montana with over 2,600 youth enrolled
annually in the combined disciplines of archery, hunting, muzzle loading, pistol,
rifle, and shotgun. Trained leaders are able to provide youth an opportunity to learn
safety, leadership, sportsmanship, decision making, and technical skills, in addition
to the opportunity to compete at the local, state and national level.
