Montana Weatherization Training Center is a partner in the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) initiative to standardize and teach home energy upgrade skills.

Types of Courses

The Montana Weatherization Training Center (MWTC) offers three types of courses:

1. Core Courses

Our nine core courses prepare students to test for National Home Energy Professional (HEP) Certification in the four WAP program job designations. They are based on the WAP standardized curricula and expose students to the industry knowledge and procedures covered in the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) developed Job Task Analyses.

2. Continuing Education Unit Courses

For individuals who already hold HEP certificates, we offer Continuing Education Units courses (CEU) approved by Building Performance Institute (BPI). Completion of the course can count toward Home Energy Professional Recertification. Visit the Continuing Education Units page to learn more. We also offer proctoring for Energy Auditor and Quality Control Inspector BPI exams.

3. In-Depth Training Courses

Finally we offer in-depth trainings, including thermography, respiratory protection, HVAC topics and certification courses for lead and asbestos inspectors.
