ASMSU allocates student fees to support student organizations, events, and services that enhance the Montana State University student experience. These funds are used to directly benefit students through programming, leadership development, and campus engagement opportunities.
ASMSU follows MSU fiscal policies and state regulations, including budget oversight, approval processes, and regular financial reviews. Funding decisions are documented, and organizations are required to submit receipts and follow spending guidelines to ensure responsible use of student fees.
The ASMSU Business Office is available to help students and organizations understand funding options, application processes, and spending procedures. Training resources, guides, and contact information are available on the ASMSU website.

ASMSU offers two primary types of funding for Registered Student Organizations: VIM (Volunteer and Impact Montana) and Rolling Funding. Each serves a different purpose and has different timelines and requirements.
Any registered student organization (RSO) with an up-to-date profile on CatsConnect!
Most requests are reviewed within 1–2 weeks, depending on meeting schedules, whether additional documents are needed, and how fast follow-ups are sent.
Submit a Gas Card Request Form on CatsConnect at least 48 business hours before travel, including travel dates, destination, and driver info.
NOTE:
- All Drivers of rental cars must be 21 years of age or older.
- Gas cards can only be used for rental vehicles, they are not permitted for personal vehicles.
