Insights for Canvas Outcomes is an analytics tool that connects learning outcomes assessed in your Canvas course to interactive dashboards and reports.

Note: All core courses are required to use Canvas Insights. This means outcomes must be aligned to assignments and assessed using rubrics to generate meaningful data.

When outcomes are aligned to rubrics and used during grading, Insights collects and displays that data to help you:

  • Identify patterns in student learning
  • Monitor outcome mastery
  • Analyze trends across sections or terms

Because each part of the process builds on the previous one, this guide is organized into phases that reflect the natural workflow within a course.
